Jodi Ames-Frankel, Ph.D. - NYS Licensed Psychologist

About Jodi

I am an empathic and compassionate psychotherapist specializing in couple therapy and the treatment of both couples and individuals experiencing grief, trauma, depression and anxiety. As a Certified Emotionally Focused Couple (EFT) Therapist and Supervisor, I have worked extensively with couples in distress, as well as clinicians who are in the process of learning to become EFT therapists. Using EFT, a highly effective approach to couple therapy, I have outstanding success in helping many couples to improve their relationships through creating safe emotional bonds. I am deeply passionate about my work, so the privilege of witnessing this process is truly beautiful and moving beyond words.

I have counseled NYC firefighters who responded to terrorist attacks on the World Trade Center on 9/11 and their families. Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), an innovative form of psychotherapy for treating trauma, I continue to witness a transformative emotional healing process, which is both moving and inspiring.

Through my doctoral training as a health psychologist, I have expertise in helping people struggling with physical illnesses and their interrelationships with emotional problems, i.e . the "mind-body" connection.

Last but not least, I understand both personally and professionally the unique issues impacting LGBTQ individuals and their families, and I find it heart-warming and fulfilling to be able to foster a healing and growth process within such families.

My office is in Mount Kisco and I am an out-of-network provider and also offer a sliding scale fee.
